AIIMS PMT 2009 : The Paper Leak Which Wasn’t!

By ARPIT on June 9, 2009

A lot of rumors have been going around regarding the AIIMS PMT which was held on June 1, 2009. While the Students’ Union has no official communication in this regard, we would like to tell you NOT TO PANIC. As has been observed over many years, AIIMS paper is conducted with highest standards of security and precaution.

It is highly unlikely that any single person (inside or outside AIIMS) would be able to get hands on the ACTUAL paper since it is drafted in separate parts by a team of experts, then assembled, and is closely monitored through printing and distribution. The paper in most cases reaches the center the morning of the exam and is opened only after instructions are received.

Here’s a report from LIVEMINT (June 1, 2009):

The AIIMS has denied that there was any leak of question papers of its MBBS entrance examination which is being held across the country Monday.
“No absolutely, not” AIIMS spokesperson Y K Gupta said when asked about the reports of the alleged leak.
“There is no substance in the allegations of any such leak,” he said.
Earlier Monday, Ghaziabad police had detained three persons along with a set of question papers suspected to be that of AIIMS entrance test.
About eight lakh (60 – 80, 000) aspirants are appearing for the exam.
“The Institute has verified it (the paper) thoroughly and it has been concluded that the alleged paper does not match with the MBBS entrance exam paper of 2009 being held Monday,” Gupta said.
“Meena Agrawal arrested by the Ghaziabad Police is a lecturer in College of Nursing at AIIMS. The police will identify her role and let us know,” Gupta said.

Here’s a blog post from one of our students:

AIIMS PMT 09: Paper Leaked… Really?

AIIMS or All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New-Delhi, INDIA conducted its Pre-medical entrance test on June 01, 2009. Not even a few hours had passed when rumors of paper leak in Ghaziabad started coming in. I don’t know if there is any truth in all this because most such news tend to end up as media-hooplah! [...]

If you appeared in the exam or are a very concerned (neurotic!) parent, here’s what you need to do:

  1. DO NOT PANIC (as I said earlier)
  2. DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING THEY SAY ON TV. Yes, most of the news is ok for general consumption but some reporters are out there JUST FOR SENSATIONALISM!
  3. Believe in your (or your child’s) abilities and be confident for the remaining exams.
  4. CHILL OUT (Relax) if you are done with all your entrance exams and are awaiting results.

Hope this helps clear the situation!

Take care,

ARPIT

after i came out of the exam hall, my mum called in to inform me about the paper leak.
i actually wished that aiims conduct exam again when i heard about the leak because my gk section did not go as expected(it was very irrelevant and unusually tough),,, but thankfully they did
not conduct an exam again and i was among the SUPER CHOUNTEES( the iits have Super 30 in bihar)………..
ps: senior ji, i had been to aiims (for sightseeing) last year and i must say that the security staff was unbelievably polite .Perhaps they should replace the uncouth examination section staff of aiims….
